James Kuo

James is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based out of the DC metro area. Starting with a background in piano, James has played with many groups from middle school through to college, training across the guitar, drums, and keyboard families of instruments along the way. On top of his unstoppable appetite for learning more instruments, he discovered his love for vocal performance through involvement in choirs and would even go on to co-found one of UNC Chapel Hill’s premiere a capella groups, The Tarpeggios.From playing countless venues to producing artist demos and even helping to engineer a small handful of songs with millions of online streams, James has always loved finding ways to be involved with music in any way, shape, or form.From his wide-ranging experiences, James has gained the conviction that every instrument, song, player, and singer each have a unique and irreplaceable value in the world of musical expression. With this belief as a foundation, James always encourages his collaborators and students to identify and enjoy their own distinct type of musicality – something that is often not discovered by study and practice alone!
